Ponderosa Pine

The Ponderosa Pine grows well in a dry conditions and can withstand drought and high temperatures. They can grow to be 80 to 160 feet tall and the bark is a red-yellow color that has a vanilla scent. The needles are 3 to 7 inches long and grow in bundles of 3. When the wind blows the needles make a musical sound. They produce oval shaped pine cones that are 3 to 4 inches long and are red-brown in color. The roots grow deep and lateral which makes it more difficult for the wind to uproot the Ponderosa Pine.
